A New Utopia
To-Topia is a quasi-artist-book-architectural model that explores the exterior design of the Boston museum of Fine Arts to understand how institutions can use utopian spatial design for inclusivity and tell forgotten stories. Think: the spaces in between the shadows, and the unseen.
The Problem
With steep admissions prices, colonial architecture, and a lack of exterior art, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts’ exterior created an elitist and intimidating profile. My interest was in finding a way to create more of an inviting exterior that represented the beauty of the museum and beckoned citizens to learn about what lay inside its stone walls.
